How often do I have to check over my wheelchair?- -
The maintenance of a manual wheelchair depends upon the model and the type of use it is subjected to. As a general rule you should check the tread pattern every month, as well as the condition of the brakes, the backrest and all moving parts. It is advisable to take a look at the quick release mechanism, the anti-tip system (if fitted), footrest and upholstery every 3-4 months, as well as cleaning the chair frame.
-
How to clean the wheelchair?- -
To maintain wheelchair appearance, the upholstery should be cleaned regularly. Light soiling can be removed by a wet sponge with a mild detergent or warm water wiping in the direction of the texture. Rinse off with clean water before allowing to dry. Do not put upholstery in a dryer. If dirt is ingrained, the surface should be scrubbed with a soft brush. The frame should be cleaned regularly with a non-abrasive cleaner followed by polishing with a non-abrasive automotive wax.

Depending on your usage, a power wheelchair battery can last from 6 months to 2 years before requiring a replacement.
